3H Project | Supporting Shenzhen International Low Carbon City, Co-building a Green and Sustainable Future

Shenzhen International Low Carbon City

Shenzhen International Low Carbon City has a total planned area of 53.4 square kilometers and is home to 245 national-level high-tech enterprises and 314 above-scale enterprises. It is a flagship project of China-EU cooperation on sustainable urbanization. It is committed to building itself into a pilot demonstration zone for carbon peaking and carbon neutrality, a model urban district of low-carbon development for socialist modernization, a pioneer in sustainable development for a community with a shared future for mankind, a pilot reform zone for green and low-carbon full life-cycle management, a global source of low-carbon industry, and a highland for low-carbon technology and talent.

According to the “China Urban and Rural Construction Sector Carbon Emissions Research Report (2025)”, in 2024, operational carbon emissions from civil buildings nationwide reached 2.47 billion tonnes, accounting for 22.1% of the country's energy-related carbon emissions; carbon emissions from building construction (including building materials and construction) reached 2.78 billion tonnes. Combined, the building sector accounts for nearly 50% of China's total carbon emissions. If building energy conservation and carbon reduction cannot be advanced, the dual carbon goals will be out of the question.

Building carbon emissions run through the entire life cycle from building material production, construction, and operation to demolition, among which energy consumption during the operational stage lasts for decades. This park gives equal weight to industrial and public buildings, with a high proportion of air-conditioning and ventilation load. The most cost-effective way to control this portion of emissions is to reduce the loss of cooling and heating, which depends on the sealing performance of the building envelope.

Documents from the Ministry of Housing and Urban-Rural Development clearly state that the energy consumption of doors and windows accounts for about 50% of building envelope energy consumption and 25% of total building energy consumption, making them a "funnel" for building energy consumption. The root cause of energy leakage in doors and windows lies in gaps. Tiny gaps cause convective infiltration of indoor and outdoor air. In summer, cold air leaks out; in winter, heat is lost, increasing air-conditioning and heating loads and accumulating operational carbon emissions.

Therefore, the key to door and window energy efficiency is "sealing." Hardware accessories and sealing strips determine the sealing effect and durability of doors.

Faced with the stringent requirements for building materials in a high-standard low-carbon demonstration zone, 3H Building Hardware provided a double-sash door hardware system and EPDM sealing strips, using excellent quality to help the low-carbon city explore new quality productive forces for sustainable development.

Double-sash Door Hardware System

3H Building Hardware's double-sash door hardware system consists of handles, hinges, lock bodies, lock cylinders, gaskets, sealants, auxiliary parts, and other components.

The hinges have passed a 100,000-cycle repeated opening and closing life test. Even under long-term high-frequency use, they do not sag or deform. The door sash and frame always remain precisely aligned, preventing gaps from enlarging over time. The system meets the requirements for precise transmission and locking under high-frequency operation, with multi-point locking ensuring even force distribution.

EPDM Sealing Strips

The EPDM sealing strips produced by Guangdong Meirun New Materials Technology Co., Ltd., a wholly-owned subsidiary of 3H Building Hardware, offer excellent low-temperature resistance, tear resistance, and aging resistance. They maintain stable elasticity and rebound rate under sun and rain and temperature cycling, and fit closely to the door sash and frame for a long time, significantly improving the air tightness, water tightness, and corrosion resistance of the door sash while extending its overall service life.

In terms of carbon reduction, their role is: the elastic sealing strip fits closely and fills gaps → blocks indoor-outdoor air infiltration and cold-heat convection → cooling and heating are no longer lost unnecessarily → air-conditioning and heating loads decrease, and operating time shortens → building operational energy consumption and carbon emissions decrease simultaneously.

The product won the 2026 "Good Materials" AAAAA Hardware, Door and Window Evaluation, and this industry recognition further confirms its leading position in green and low-carbon scenarios.

[Award certificate]

Carbon reduction is never a slogan, but a series of quantifiable, verifiable, and long-term operational details. 3H Building Hardware has provided solid support for the high-standard construction of Shenzhen International Low Carbon City, and every detail reflects the company's responsibility and commitment to a low-carbon future. In the future, 3H Building Hardware will continue to empower green buildings with innovative technologies and jointly build a better tomorrow in which humanity and nature coexist in harmony.
